TURFGRASS AND ORNAMENTAL RESEARCH HELPS INDUSTRY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

CLEMSON -- Clemson University researchers are working with turfgrass and ornamental producers to help these industries grow in South Carolina, at the same time as they protect the state's environment.

  


ABOUT Turfgrass Diagnostics, LLC.

Turfgrass Diagnostics L. L.C. is a private company providing turfgrass disease identification and educational programs to the turfgrass industry. The turfgrass diagnostic clinic, located in Hallsville, Missouri operates under permit by USDA/APHIS/PPQ. The company, which was founded in July 2005, is owned and operated by Dr. Barb Corwin.

A native of western Pennsylvania, Barb received a BS in Plant Science from the Pennsylvania State University. She earned her MS in Plant Pathology from Iowa State University and a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Missouri.  Barb acquired her interest in plant disease diagnostics during her student years at Iowa State where she worked in the Plant Disease Clinic.

Barb has over 25 years experience in plant disease diagnostics and problem solving.  She served for 20 years as the diagnostician for the Extension Plant Diagnostic Clinic and over three years as State Specialist for Turf and Ornamental diseases at the University of Missouri.  She has worked with the turfgrass industry since 1994. Barb is the first author of Identification and Management of Turfgrass Diseases, published in 2007 by University of Missouri Extension in the Plant Protection Programs series of Integrated Pest Management manuals.
